Good Morning,
I'm sure you are beginning to see a pattern unfolding in these lessons in that each lesson builds on the previous day's lesson. Yesterday we learned that we are never upset for the reason we think and now today we are told that we are upset because we see something that is not there. What is the "something"? For today; however, let's be content with just the thought that we are upset because we see something that is not there.
This implies that I am causing my own upset! It means that I have perceived a situation filtered by my thoughts and my conditioning, judged it to be bad and then experienced pain, anxiety, worry, fear or anger about it. Notice that nowhere does it say that something outside of ourselves is causing this upset. The upset is being caused by my seeing and judging. This can be a hard pill to swallow when the world gives us so much evidence that bad stuff is happening outside of ourselves.
Just practice acceptance of this lesson today and be willing to suspend your judgment about what it means. Remember, you are learning to think differently about your reactions and perceptions about your experience of this life. Express your gratitude and applaud your willingness to do this work.
Joan
