Good Morning!

Today's lesson is My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world.  We are told that this lesson is a major part of the "correction process" and we are introduced to the "concept that your thoughts determine the world you see".  This is a major concept indeed.  This concept is discussed in greater detail in the text of A Course in Miracles in Chapter 21.  One of my favorite lines from that chapter is Therefore, seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world. (Chapter 21, Intro. 1:7)

We have been conditioned to believe that what is happening out in the world is happening outside of us and is not in any way caused by us.  The concept of cause and effect seems quite clear until we begin reading and practicing the principles in A Course in Miracles.  I remember when I first went through these lessons years ago, that I told a friend that I felt like my life had turned into "Bizarro world" where nothing is as it seems and cause and effect is turned upside down.  It can be an unsettling experience.

I have found though that I have taken more responsibility for my choices, actions and interpretations since realizing that I am part of the cause, and not simply the effect.  When things go wrong, it is me that is first in line for questioning, and conversely, when things go right, I congratulate myself for being in the flow of God's sure direction.  I am grateful to be on this path today for it leads me Home.

Yes, it can be unsettling indeed. This lesson gets right to the heart of that cause and effect relationship. The reason that nothing I see has any meaning is that it all comes from my thoughts that have no meaning. Therefore, there is no difference between what I see and what I think. I am reminded here to practice in a "leisurely", "casually" and "unhurried" manner. Any pressure or struggle actually gives more strength to the belief system of the ego.

The quote from the intro of Chapter 21 is one of my favorites too. It actually resonated for me in lesson 8 for some reason.

Those are my meaningless thoughts for the day.

Thanks, Jerry, for the reminder to pay attention to the pacing and tempo that the lessons ask of us.  Sometimes it is easy to gloss over that part but I believe the instructions are important as well.  As the lesson says today:  "The key to forgiveness lies in it."  I want that key!
